Research interests: Mathematical biology and stochastic modelling
Aleks holds a BSc from the University of Dundee, where she focused predominantly on mathematical biology and physics modules. As part of her degree, her final year project investigated a biological pathway related to infections arising in people diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. She enjoyed the aspect of constructing models that use various mathematical tools to relate to biological data. During her first year at MIGSAA Aleks explored other areas but was keen to carry on with mathematical biology as she worked on modelling two different systems with Dr. Lyuba Chumakova and Dr. Kevin Painter. She continues to work on the systems with the help of her supervisors; exploring intercellular processes and animal navigation further. When she’s not coding or reading papers Aleks enjoys running and yoga
