The Maxwell Institute runs a variety of regular weekly seminars.

APPLIED AND COMPUTATIONAL MATHEMATICS SEMINAR

The Maxwell Institute Applied and Computational Mathematics seminar takes place on Wednesday afternoons at 3pm. This is a broad applied mathematics seminar with talks spanning applied analysis, mathematical modelling, numerical analysis, and scientific computing. ENERGY-MATHEMATICS-ENGINEERING (EME) SEMINAR

Energy-Mathematics-Engineering is a discussion group between the Schools of Mathematics and Engineering in the University of Edinburgh. We run weekly seminars and we host external and internal speakers. Thanks to the EME group seminars, researchers from Academia and Industry collaborate and share their knowledge.

AMS SEMINAR

The statistics seminar of Department of Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics at Heriot-Watt is part of the Maxwell Institute seminar series. It takes place Wednesdays at 2pm.

ANALYSIS SEMINAR (HW)

The Heriot Watt Analysis Seminar takes place on Wednesdays at 4-5pm during term time in Appleton Tower, Lecture Theatre 3. It is currently organised by Lyonell Boulton and Matteo Capoferri.

ANALYSIS SEMINAR (UoE)

The Edinburgh Analysis Seminar is held in person at 2pm on Mondays in JCMB 5323. It is currently organised by Linhan Li.

EDGE SEMINAR

The EDGE seminar is the Hodge group's algebraic and sympelctic geometry seminar. It runs on Wednesday mornings in Bayes 5.46.

ERGO SEMINAR

Seminars take place on Wednesdays at 15.00 in the James Clerk Maxwell Building unless indicated otherwise. All are welcome to attend.

HODGE SEMINAR

The Hodge seminars run on alternating weeks with the EMPG seminars on Wednesday afternoons in Appleton Tower Lecture Theatre 2.

EMPG SEMINAR

The Edinburgh Mathematical Physics Group (EMPG) seminars take place on Wednesday afternoons. For further information on EMPG, its members, and the seminar times following the link below.

HERIOT-WATT MAXIMALS SEMINAR

The Heriot-Watt MAXIMALS seminar focuses on algebra, geometry, and topology, with an emphasis on geometric group theory. Seminars typically run on a Wednesday afternoon. HW MAXIMALS is currently organised by Alessandro Sisto.

UoE MAXIMALS SEMINAR

The MAXIMALS seminar represents the interests of all Edinburgh faculty working in algebra and number theory, and is currently being coordinated by Sjoerd Beentjes, Cheuk Yu Mak, Brian Williams and Fei Xie.

PROBABILITY Seminar

The North British Probability Seminars are held weekly during the semester. The seminars are offered in a hybrid format, and take place at 3pm on Wednesdays in JCMB 5323. The current coordinators are Theo Assiotis and Jiawei Li.

STATISTICS SEMINAR

The Statistics seminars at the School of Mathematics is a part of Maxwell Institute seminar series. The seminars are organised jointly between the Statistics group in the School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh and Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland.

TEMSE Seminar

UoE TEMSE run bi-weekly seminars on pedagogy and teaching in the mathematical sciences. The seminars are hybrid, and take place on Mondays at 10am. Please contact Charlotte Desvages to be added to the mailing list.
