The Maxwell Institute runs a variety of regular weekly seminars.
APPLIED AND COMPUTATIONAL MATHEMATICS SEMINAR
The Maxwell Institute Applied and Computational Mathematics seminar takes place on Wednesday afternoons at 3pm. This is a broad applied mathematics seminar with talks spanning applied analysis, mathematical modelling, numerical analysis, and scientific computing. It is currently organized by Julian Braun and Kaibo Hu.
ENERGY-MATHEMATICS-ENGINEERING (EME) SEMINAR
Energy-Mathematics-Engineering is a discussion group between the Schools of Mathematics and Engineering in the University of Edinburgh. We run weekly seminars and we host external and internal speakers. Thanks to the EME group seminars, researchers from Academia and Industry collaborate and share their knowledge.
AFM SEMINAR (hw)
The AFM Seminar covers frontier research topics in Actuarial and Financial Mathematics. It takes place on Fridays at 12-1pm during term time in Colin Maclaurin T.01 (currently organized by Daniela Escobar).
ANALYSIS SEMINAR (HW)
The Heriot Watt Analysis Seminar takes place on Wednesdays at 4-5pm during term time in Appleton Tower, Lecture Theatre 3. It is currently organised by Lyonell Boulton and Matteo Capoferri.
ERGO SEMINAR
Seminars take place on Wednesdays at 15.00 in the James Clerk Maxwell Building unless indicated otherwise. All are welcome to attend.
EDGE SEMINAR
The EDGE seminar is the Hodge group's algebraic and symplectic geometry seminar. It runs on Wednesday mornings in Bayes 5.46.
EMPG SEMINAR
The Edinburgh Mathematical Physics Group (EMPG) seminars take place on Wednesday afternoons. For further information on EMPG, its members, and the seminar times following the link below.
HODGE SEMINAR
The Hodge seminar is a colloquium-style seminar for the Hodge Institute and related areas. It runs on Wednesday afternoons in central Edinburgh, alternating weeks with the EMPG seminars.
HW PROBABILITY Seminar
The Heriot-Watt Probability Seminar takes place on Wednesdays during the semester and is currently organised by Mateusz Majka. Seminars run from 2-3pm in Appleton Tower 2.04.
Algebra Seminar (UoE)
The Algebra seminar represents the interests of all Edinburgh faculty working in algebra and number theory. The seminars run on Wednesday mornings in Bayes 5.46.
HERIOT-WATT MAXIMALS SEMINAR
The Heriot-Watt MAXIMALS seminar focuses on algebra, geometry, and topology, with an emphasis on geometric group theory. Seminars typically run on a Wednesday afternoon. HW MAXIMALS is currently organised by Alessandro Sisto.
UOE PROBABILITY Seminar
The North British Probability Seminars are held weekly during the semester. The seminars are offered in a hybrid format, and take place at 3pm on Wednesdays in JCMB 5323. The current coordinators are Theo Assiotis and Jiawei Li.
STATISTICS SEMINAR
The Statistics seminar is part of Maxwell Institute seminar series. The seminars are organised jointly between the School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh and Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland.
TEMSE Seminar
UoE TEMSE run bi-weekly seminars on pedagogy and teaching in the mathematical sciences. The seminars are hybrid on Mondays at 10am. Please contact Charlotte Desvages to be added to the mailing list.
