Postdoctoral Research Opportunities

If you are starting your mathematical career, then come for a postdoc in the Maxwell Institute! Here are the funding opportunities that we know about:

EPSRC Postdoctoral fellowships For young researchers completing, or who have recently completed, their PhD's. These awards are for up to 3 years and cover salary, travel and equipment. Closing date: annually in autumn/fall.

EPSRC Career Acceleration Fellowships. For researchers with between 3 and 10 years of postdoctoral experience. These awards are for up to 5 years and cover salary, travel, equipment and PhD studentships. Closing date: annually in autumn/fall.

NSF International Research Fellowship Program. For U.S. citizens and permanent residents with no more than 3 years of post-doctoral experience. These Fellowships will provide support for periods of 9--24 months. Closing date: annually, 2nd Tuesday in September.

Royal Society University Research Fellowships "Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent research experience by the time they apply, we will not accept applicants who have just submitted their PhD. Applicants are expected to be at an early to mid-stage of their career. As an example, you could have had between one and three post doc positions." Citizenship restrictions apply. Closing date: annually in autumn/fall.

Depending on your research area, the other UK research funding councils may also be able to offer funding. (Follow the link to the most relevant-looking research council and then look for `fellowship'.)

If you are interested in one of the above positions, please contact the academic in the Maxwell Institute with whom you would most like to work. The research page gives an overview of our research interests.

It is essential to start the application process well in advance. In particular, applications to EPSRC must be submitted through the Joint electronic Submission (JeS) system, and this requires the setting up of an account. All documents should be ready at least 10 working days before the closing date to allow the University involved to complete its part of the application process and get the material to EPSRC on time.

Disclaimer Every effort has been made accurately to summarize the essential conditions of these fellowships, but applicants should check the conditions with the funding organization itself.
