Industrial Sandpit 2015

Academic and industry synergies are vital to economic growth.

Presentations by Industrial leaders: Selex ES, MOODYS Analytics, Oldbaum Services, OpenGoSim and the British Geographical Survey at MIGSAA's second Industrial Sandpit explained the practical industrial problems faced by businesses today, requiring a sophisticated mathematical academic skills’ set to solve.  Mathematical problem solving theory is put to the test in business development in many diverse areas, and this diversity drives the need for academic courses.  These synergies were eloquently outlined in this fascinating afternoon.

A networking reception followed where visitors and students of the Maxwell Institute and beyond chatted and exchanged ideas, fuelling a dynamic connection between academia and commerce.  A Selex site visit will be arranged for MIGSAA students in 2016 to illustrate how their research experience is necessary in industry,.
