It's a pleasure to advertise a forthcoming course "Methods of Industrial Mathematics" by Prof. John Curtis of AWE plc. and University College London, organised by Heiko Gimperlein from Heriot-Watt University.
A central task of modern solvency regulations for the insurance industry, such as the Swiss Solvency Test and Solvency II, is to undertake a fair valuation of their assets and liabilities.
This minisymposium will be split into two parts. First part will introduce theoretical and applied aspects of preconditioning and will be suitable for a broad audience.
We are delighted to have Dr John Curtis of AWE and UCL deliver a short intensive course in Methods of Industrial Mathematics.
The course will provide a good understanding of industrial mathematics from a practitioner, who has first hand experience of working in industry and academia.
We are happy to announce that the Maxwell Institute Graduate School in Analysis and its Applications (MIGSAA) will hold the Summer School in Analysis of PDEs and Fluid Dynamics in the Bayes Centre, Edinburgh, on 23-26 July 2019.
Heriot-Watt will award a honorary degree to Maria J. Esteban on June 21st, the current president of ICIAM and a world leader in the analysis of nonlinear PDES, variational methods and analytical methods in mathematical physics.
We're excited to offer places on our newly funded MAC-MIGS programme!
Kindly organised by Jonas Azzam, this short mini course will be an insight into Cheeger's Theorem in Geometric Measure Theory.
Venue: 5.20 ICMS Lecture Theatre, 5th Floor, 47 Potterow, Edinburgh EH8 9BT.
