Apply for a PhD studentship at Heriot-Watt University

Application Material

For the general PhD programmes we need you to fill in the on-line form including

  • Names and details of two referees. Ask your referees to upload a file with the reference on headed paper and also to send a copy to the appropriate admission tutor: Professor D. Clancy (Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics Department), e-mail: d.clancy@hw.ac.uk or Dr A. Doikou (Mathematics Department), e-mail: a.doikou@hw.ac.uk

and then you upload 3 files via "Submit Application" below:

  1. Curriculum Vitae
  2. Transcript of all marks
  3. Research Statement. Upload a file giving the name of potential PhD supervisor and title of project (you may list several potential supervisors/projects if you wish).

For the MAC-MIGS CDT programme we need you to fill in the on-line form

  • Select "Mathematics PhD" on the form.
  • State clearly that you are interested in the MAC-MIGS programme.
  • Names and details of two referees. Ask your referees to upload a file with the reference on headed paper. No letters to be sent to Heriot-Watt.

and then you provide 3 files via "Submit Application" below:

  1. Curriculum Vitae
  2. Transcript of all marks
  3. Research Statement. Just write a general statement about your broad area(s) of interest for a PhD and reasons for applying to this course. Put this in a document and upload it as the Research Statement asked for. This can be exactly the same as the statement supplied to the University of Edinburgh as the "personal statement".
